The Christmas tree

When I was young setting up the Christmas tree meant color coordinating tree limbs and fake branches.  My husband grew up with real Christmas trees and can't imagine using a fake tree for Christmas. So we have started the tradition of a family outing to find the perfect tree.  This year we bought a tree from two guys from Oregon, it is called a Douglas Fir.  We had planned a fun evening of Christmas music, hot chocolate and decorating the tree but Cole had other plans.  I spent most of the time trying to calm him down and get him to bed while Chris and Raelynn did the tree. This is why we don't have our yearly picture of Raelynn putting the star on top. Oh well I guess this is only the beginning of traditions not going as planned!  Here are some of the pictures of us bundle up outside and the kids in their Christmas pajamas.

Cole's first bath

These are pictures of Cole's first bath, as you can see he was scared to death! At first we were laughing at his terrified face but then when he did not calm down we finished the bath very quickly! This picture still makes me laugh!!!!

He calmed down very quickly and now does great in the bath!

Cole is seven weeks!

Can you believe that Cole is already seven weeks old! People always say that children grow up so fast and unfortunately is so true! I hold Cole all the time afraid the infant stage will be gone before I know it!Cole is doing great! He sleeps all night only waking up for a couple quick snacks. He is becoming more alert and aware of his surroundings.  He has smiled at me a couple times today and it is so precious! He doesn't like to miss anything and has a hard time falling asleep.  He often becomes over stimulated and then has a difficult time winding down.  He only cries when he is tired and smacks when he is hungry!

Nana showed Cole off to all her friends in Crockett!
Raelynn loves to hold Cole. She was so proud                                                                                           of herself because she was able to calm him
down and get him to sleep!

Why Blog?

I never thought I would become a blogger but my sister convinced me of the importance of keeping my family updated. She also said that "all the stay home moms are doing it!" So in an attempted to fit in as a new homemaker, I decided to create a blog!
Recently, I have become more aware of how hard it is to live far from my friends and family. Most of my immediate family lives about three hours away which is not too far but still difficult for my parents to see their grandchildren often. So, for all the moments our friends and family miss we will try to keep you involved through pictures and letters!
