Time off?

My husband and I are really good at giving each other time off. He spends a day or afternoon doing what he wants and he gives me the same amount of time to do the same. Normally on his time off he drives to his Dad's farm to work outside, hunt or shoot guns. He enjoys getting out of the house to do some guy stuff. This past Monday he had eight hours of uninterrupted time to himself.

Today was my day to have some time off. He told me that I could do anything I wanted. But the problem is I have no idea what to do? Well I know what I would like to do but everything I enjoy costs money! I love to shop, get pedicures, messages, and eat out with friends, all that costs money. So if I can't do any of those things than what I would really love to do is stay at a quiet empty home and relax, sleep and have the freedom to do whatever I feel like doing. But it is extremely hard for me to stay home without being caught up with taking care of Cole. Even if I am in my room I can still hear him and I don't even have the freedom to wonder to the kitchen for a quick snack (my child is very attached to me and would cry and follow me back to my room, he is even known to bang on my door looking for me).

Each time my husband gives me "time off" and asks me what I want to do I have no idea what to say. I really just want time to spend at my house without having to provide for anyone's needs but my own. I guess I need to find a hobby that doesn't cost any money but I am not sure if that even exists!

Today my husband offered me the day off but I ended spending almost the entire day with him and Cole. We all went to breakfast and to Wal-Mart. I took a nap in the morning and spent two hours in bed while Cole took his afternoon nap. I feel like I completely wasted my opportunity to have some free time but I really had no idea what to do! Someone needs to open a place for Daddy's and kids to hang out so Mommy's can have the house to themselves. So frustrated...

How about getting Chris to take Cole somewhere (in between naps) so you can have the house to yourself? Then you could lay around, read, take a bubble bath, etc. Or maybe YOU need to go shoot some guns too! ;o)

Go to Starbucks and get the coffe of your choice. Load your purse with small snacks- chocolate is best in my humble opinion. Head to Barns & Nobles. Buy a good book, plop yourself down in one of their comfy chairs and read for several hours!!

When it is warmer, take a good book, a journal, your Bible, a hymn book, and the coffe, and drive to a pretty spot. Scoot your seat back, read, sing, pray, write. Occasionally get out and walk some. Pray as you walk. Have 3X5 cards with names of people and Scripture to pray. Having done this I can promise you, you will come away refeshed
